Billy Squier had a string of multi-platinum albums released throughout the 1980s that still dominate radio playlists and resonate with fans to this day. Tell the Truth was Billy’s eighth and final album for Capitol Records, scheduled for release in the spring of 1993. Label brass informed Billy it was the best album Capitol had in the pipeline for the current year. They also told him that they were pulling the plug on it. The full story is even more bizarre than it sounds. Produced by Mike Chapman (Sweet, Blondie, Material Issue, etc.), Tell the Truth was a powerhouse rock effort that radio seemed to love. Lead-off track “Angry” received more radio “adds” than any prior Billy Squier track during its first week on-air! This is Billy Squier at his absolute best. This new deluxe reissue (never released on vinyl until 2026!) was initially issued in April and sold out on the day of release. We’re now making it available again as part of the Record Store Day Essentials program. Fans won’t want to miss this second opportunity to get this lavish set. Housed in a gorgeous, thick tip-on sleeve, the album contains not only complete liner notes detailing the story of the LP, but also related bonus material, extended content, and lyrics. Newly remastered by Chris Muth (Rolling Stones, AC/DC, etc.) and pressed on high-quality vinyl, the album sounds better than it ever has. This is an essential piece of the Billy Squier story and it’s time the Truth be told….
